Does anyone have any idea how to create a model heart? I need the heart to glow and "beat". Or, failing that, does anyone know the quickest, cheapest, and easiest way to just make a realistic heart? My first impulse was to just go out and get a cow heart or something from a butcher, but I'm doing this for film school and there are certain guidelines I have to follow... Thanks a lot.

Ewwww! I was going to suggest asking the butchers, but the only no-budget way I can think of is using a balloon, so long as its a close-up you'd be able to pump air in and out & possibly place a light under it or shove an LED inside it.

Depends on how much time/effort you have/are prepared to go to, but you could feasably do this
by making a 'glove' puppet heart out of an old (red?) sock.
-Dress this up with liquid latex and tissue paper and paint the whole thing red, and cover with a mixture of golden syrup and food colouring, for glistening look.
-Put a torch or small light bulb inside, along with your hand.
-Film (and make it) from such an angle that you can't see the 'long' bit where your hand goes inside. Maybe cut a hole in a large peice of black card, and put hand through that. And use the black card as a backdrop. (depends on what the background is going to be..) Or if its in an open corpse, snake your hand in from the back somewhere out of sight.
-Then put hand inside, along with torch/bulb, and pulsate it gently with your hand.
-Light it nicely and film it.
-That would work, but give yourself a week to make and let the latex dry.
Latex (and tissue paper) is your best friend when making gory props.
